Meet Server Crashing when not in use

I’ve been battling this for quite some time and can’t figure it out. I have a meet server running on a VPS with Ubuntu 16.04 and nginx. The server will stay up and happy for days on end and then will crash. When it crashes it does that thing where when a second user gets in it kicks both people out repeatedly. The only way I have managed to recover when this happens is to stop and start the server. This will fix it. Here’s what I’m seeing in the syslog when the latest crash happened. Nobody was using the server at 13:11. Any ideas what I can check???

How much RAM do you have?
Have you setup a swap file or partition?
If you have less than 8GB, have you made anything to reduce RAM usage in either jicofo or videobridge in these files?

/usr/share/jicofo/jicofo.sh
/usr/share/jitsi-videobridge/jvb.sh

Thanks so much for helping. I only have 1 GB of ram so far and it’s been fine. I do not know about reducing usage in those files. Any idea what maybe I should change them to? I appreciate the help.

In jicofo.sh you will see -Xmx3072m.
In jvb.sh you will see VIDEOBRIDGE_MAX_MEMORY=3072m.

Those are the numbers that you might want to reduce.

But that might not be enough.

Consider using more RAM and definitely consider adding a swap partition/file.

Thanks. I’ll do some learning about Swap partitions… I appreciate the help
