Meet.jit.si - server location?

Hi there! I was wondering where are the Jitsi Meet (public instance) located?

I know Octo is used for routing, but I don’t know where are the underlying servers located. It seems AWS Dynamic Accelerator is used for anycast routing too.

I was trying out Jitsi Meet with a couple of my friends here in Hong Kong. They observed lagginess and prefer Zoom over Jitsi Meet. I wanted to know if hosting my own instance locally would help with the situation.

Currently octo is not running on meet.jit.si, so the instance used depends on the first one that joined. The regions are shown in the connection info UI, you can check and compare with your friends. We have shards in ap-se-1 and ap-se-2 region.

I guess that will for sure always help, as long as your local instance is near the participants.
