Links for Calls to Our Own Domain, Branding

Hi,

I need to find an opensource online video conferencing software suite that I can brand. So that the links for the calls can resolve to my own domain, and I can put our own branding on the “platform” users see.

So that, when call links are created, instead of

https: // meet . jit .si / SpecialistLocalsDefe

it would be

https:// my-small-company.com / SpecialistLocalsDefe

And, the branding during the calls would appear the same.

If we use Jitsi - can we achieve this? We have an in-house engineer.

Alternatively - we’d gladly pay for these options. And! Hosting, too. (I sent Jitsi a sales quote request, but they’ve not gotten back to me. :(… )

Thinking this is the Developer’s Forum, I thought I’d ask here as I believed that - if such things ARE possible with Jitsi - you all would be the good folk what who had done them already.

Sincerely,

Plutru

Hi

You can do that with your own installation. There are several threads of how to do customizations. Your dev should not have issue to achieve it.

Also there is a Paid work area where you can post you requerimients and have lots of quotes.

I would recommend u visit the handbook

Hi Plutru,
As Edgar_Osorio said, you can customize the URL and do the branding stuff by editing the source code of Jitsi and deploying it on your server using the developer’s guide and self-hosting guide Or you can just DM me, ill provide you with all the code changes along with hosting.

Hello Edgar & YashM

@Edgar_Osorio - please can you post the link to the paid area?

@YashM - can’t figure out how to send a DM on this forum! :stuck_out_tongue:  Please could you send the code changes along with the hosting ideas you mentioned?

Thank you, both! )))))))))))))))))))))))))

Sincerely,

Plutru

@plutrukarobeen please check your inbox (can be found when you click on your profile picture on the top right and click on the envelope icon), and provide me with the details of your requirement so that ill be able to configure the code and server accordingly.

Hi,

I am looking over the things I can find online.

My understanding of online conferencing is based mostly on Zoom.

With Zoom , there was a flat fee, for example 14.99 / users.

And then, even when we had a account implementing their API, I recall we paid… around US$100 / month.

And, that was it, pretty much; no other per-minute / usage charges.

When I looked at the pricing plans for Jitsi I saw this:

Add-ons pricing
(the same fees are applied to all plans)
Recordings
$0.01 / min
RTMP Streaming
$0.01 / min
Transcription
$0.06 / min
PSTN Outbound
1 MAU + $0.03 / min
PSTN Inbound
2 MAU
SIP in/out
$0.06 / min

For our purposes, a basic user holding a “meeting” would be a teacher video conferencing with a student or students.

The teacher typically would share his screen with the other participants in the call.

Using Jitsi in this way, please can you give me an idea of which of the additional charges would apply, if any?

Are the charges outlined above ONLY if I go with Jitsi’s own hosting?

Put another way - if we install and ran on our own server would these fees still apply? Is there always an additional per minute fee using Jitsi?

Thanks,

Plutru

I not familiar with Jaas pricing… I would recommend you contact them directly and discuss the add-ons.

If you on the other hand host your own server it will only depend of the amount of concurrent users and conferences you want to host.

It can be as cheap of 20 usd per month… but again it depends of concurrent users/conferences

So the teacher and students are counted as MAU.

If you do your own hosting there is no charge or anything from our side, it is up to you and your cloud provider and such …

No, there is no fee for self-hosting.

Hi @damencho

Our basic meeting would just be a video call and shared screens - teacher hosting, student(s) joining.

As long as these were within the 300 MAU of JaaS Basic, which of these extra fees would apply - if any - for a basic video conference / call?

RTMP Streaming
$0.01 / min

PSTN Outbound
1 MAU + $0.03 / min

PSTN Inbound
2 MAU

SIP in/out
$0.06 / min

RECORDING
Does recording also include shared screens? Of hosts, or all on call?

Sincerely,

Plutru

None of these. Recording includes recording … there is a button to record the meeting, you can get the link to it in a webhook and download it in 24hours or you can select upload to dropbox.
Just screen sharing includes nothing of the above.
