Language customization in Jitsi

How do I change some text displayed in Jitsi?

The file is located here:

But I guess simply editing it won’t do. I have to building it from source by cloning from github.

Can someone guide me how to do it? I am totally new in building or modifying applications from source.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

You can always patch the text on your server installation. The files are located here:

/usr/share/jitsi-meet/lang/

Be aware that such changes might get lost when Jitsi Meet package is updated.

Hello Marqqs!

What do you mean by “patch the text”?

I know that the files are located on my server here - /usr/share/jitsi-meet/lang/

But simply editing the json file won’t update the text.

Sorry, my fault, I did not read your post thoroughly enough.
What I meant was not the file you appended, I meant the language-specific files, as main-esUS.json, for example. Changes to those files are relevant at least for HTML-pages, such as the welcome page. I am not sure if this will help in your case…

For example I want to modify these texts:

https://www.gen.cam.ac.uk/facilities/it/Images/jitsi-meet-waiting-for-host/image_preview

https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSscD2UgO4WdoLbFoEwJhYgkp6ge8dL-wfWYNAN62GR_1bwdk-dMQ&s

I’m lost in translation  Am I blind or is there any official documentation for customizing text through language files?
