[jitsi-users] Yahoo login

#1

I am a Linux user (Ubuntu/Xubuntu 10.04 64bit) and hoped that Jitsi
would be a Linux alternative to Yahoo Messenger on Windows.

Unfortunately I can't login with the credentials I use on Windows.

This has led me to wonder if the Yahoo login has been written to cater
for the entire family of Yahoo logins, rather than just @yahoo.com.

There was a tie up between BT (British Telecom) some years back which
seems to mean that all BT accounts are also valid for use with Yahoo
Messenger. The account I use is @talk21.com, (I login to email via
uk.yahoo.com), others I am aware of are @btinternet.com and
@btopenworld.com there may be more.

Any ideas anybody???

Hi Duncan,

I'm not aware of such a restriction. How can we obtain such an account
to test with, are they free to register?

Hi, thanks for your reply.

My @talk21.com account was certainly free, but that was many years
ago!!!

The @btinternet.com and @btopenworld.com accounts are usually linked to
broadband provision. I can't see any way of getting a free account.

I have had the same issue. I cannot log into my @ATT.net account through jitsi. I think jitsi truncates the @xxx from the account id assuming it's a yahoo email account.
