[jitsi-users] XMPP MUC history

#1

Hi All,

I'm pretty sure jitsi is supposed to support MUC history (sent from the server that is), is there any trick to turning it on?

I have it enabled on on the server, and it works fine with Spark. Indeed I think I can see the history being sent to jitsi in the pcap logs it collects:

<message id="ptUdT-25" to="user@corp.org/jitsi-357he30" from="tech-support@conference.corp.org/User name" type="groupchat"><body>..</body><delay xmlns="urn:xmpp:delay" stamp="2014-03-05T09:16:37.256Z" from="user@corp.org/jitsi-eu59v"></delay><x xmlns="jabber:x:delay" stamp="20140305T09:16:37" from="user@corp.org/jitsi-eu59v"></x></message>

(I assume something (I'm guessing jitsi) is removing the body of the text itself for privacy reasons).

My configuration:

openfire 3.9.1 (LDAP sourced users if that makes any difference)
Jitsi latest (tried stable and nightly)

Thanks,

Tom.

Hi,

yes it is supported and working. We tried to fix some issues with
duplicating messages coming from server history in latest nightlies.
So if you already have a message in the history and it is coming again
from the server, the one from the server will not be shown.

Quoting Damian Minkov <damencho@jitsi.org>:

So if you already have a message in the history and it is coming again

So does that mean jitsi keeps a track (locally?) of what history it has previously seen and hence does not want to see again? if so where is this stored?

I'm guess that perhaps jitsi isn't showing my server provided history because jitsi thinks it has already seen it.

Thanks,

Tom.

Well everything is stored in history folder with other message history
in home folder (https://jitsi.org/Documentation/FAQ#jitsi-home). And
there is a property in configuration about latest seen message from
server, something like:
net.java.sip.communicator.impl.gui.accounts.acc1379593267406.chatRooms.chatRoom1379593920342.lastSeenDelayedMessage=1387380780000

Not sure if this applies to you, but if you disable chat history in Jitsi... it will override the Openfire setting to show MUC history.
