[jitsi-users] Windows x64 audio crackle over SIP with speech

#1

Hi Folks,

I am getting some very strange audio crackle when I hear someone's voice in a SIP call, when using Jitsi, I don't hear the crackle until someone speaks. I'm talking to an almost vanilla asterisk server.

I'm running the latest stable x64 Windows build, and I've attached my log and a quick screenshot of the call summary.

Is there perhaps something to do with codecs in use? (seems odd)

I've been testing with Ekiga and Blink, neither of which exhibit this issue.

I did attach my logs and a screenshot of the summary call info and sent it to support@jitsi.org

I'm not assuming you're going to find anything, but I guess it's worth a shot!

Thanks,

willwh

Folks

meet.jit.si works great for me with one other party. But when I attempt
to add a third person, it doesn't work. I get an icon with the
silhouette of a persona, but there is no audio or video with that third
party. I have tried it with different people, at different times.
Suggestions?

We are using Chrome--I on Ubuntu 13.10 and they on Windows.

Thank you for your help

Pablo

Crackle that appears only when someone speaks could be a level issue
(clipping). Chances are something in the audio chain is turned up too
high.

Your logs contain some WASAPI exceptions which have been fixed in the
nightlies[1]. I don't know if this is what causes the sound problems,
but you might want to try a nightly build.

Folks,

Just to give a point of comparison, Codassium (http://codassium.com/)
provides multiparty video conferencing in WebRTC which works for me with
no difficulty.

I appreciate your counsel if there is something I can do from my side,
as I very much like Jitsi.

Thank you

I don't know what exceptions you've seen in William's logs, but the
ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException in WASAPI is still occurring with the latest
nighty.

Hello, Ingo! It's one of the issues that I'm looking into and I haven't committed anything yet.

I didn't have any luck with the nightlies :frowning:

I wonder if it's a soundcard issue. s

The out-of-bounds-exception is definitely hardware related. I only see it
with my headset in the office (Logitech H820e).

Hi Ingo,

Interesting, it is an onboard soundcard, I'll try and find a usb one kicking around, as I assume that'll solve my prob
