[jitsi-users] Weird Behavior When Moderator End Conference Session in Jitsi Meet

#1

Hi All,

In order to support user authentication with intended behaviors as below, I
have enabled the authentication (internal_plain, anonymous) in prosody and
set restrict_room_creation as local in MUC.

- Only authenticated user can create conference
- User can join conference without authentication required

The behaviors described are currently working fine.

The only weird thing I found is when the moderator logout/hangup, the
rest of participants still stay in the conference and the conference
session is kept running without moderator. The participants still can
see each others.

Shouldn't all participants be dropped from the conference session the
moment moderator logout/hangup?

Is this a bug, or am I missing anything on the server configuration?

Thanks.

Hello,

As you say, the XMPP server restricts the room creation to authenticated users, but after creation any virtualhost user (and if s2s enabled any user) with the MUC JID can join the room.

The only weird thing I found is when the moderator logout/hangup, the rest of
participants still stay in the conference and the conference session is kept
running without moderator. The participants still can see each others.

The room then remains open until the last occupant leaves.
In some cases the MUC is configured as permanent, so the room will always remain in the server, even after restarting the daemon.

The moderator role is for JitsiMeet only important for the room creation and other room-settings configuration.

Shouldn't all participants be dropped from the conference session the moment
moderator logout/hangup?
Is this a bug, or am I missing anything on the server configuration?

This is not a bug.

See the XMPP MUC standard for more info: https://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0045.html

Rainer

Thanks for the inputs and the XMPP MUC reference link.
It is useful to me.
