[jitsi-users] webcams with built-in H.264

#1

There are some webcams (Logitech C920 and B990) that have H.264 built in

I understand that support for such webcams depends on kernel support,
but recent kernels (e.g. 3.2 in Debian 7) are OK with these webcams

Beyond that, individual applications seem to vary in their support for
these webcams - can anyone comment on how well they should work with
Jitsi? Can Jitsi leverage the benefit of H.264 in the webcam, or does
it just take the regular uncompressed video feed?

Hey Daniel,

We don't support this currently but it's something we'd very much like
to do at some point.

We were also thinking of using Skype's API for that purpose (the one
they released under Apache) but we haven't yet started to seriously
look into the matter.

Cheers,
Emil
