[jitsi-users] videobridge issues Q&A

#1

Hi there,

Having videobridge setup correctly ( as it gets detected by the client
and the client works as expected ),
i was wondering where the "Admin" part is handled.

Thats the main conference window after the contacts have been added and
the conference has been made.

Where should the control panel be ???

It lokks and acts like a normal conference call besides the not working
encryption.

can one spread some light on it?

There is no other control panel.

Note that bridge support in the Jitsi client hasn't been maintained in the
past two years and is not likely to be in the future.

It still gets build regulary. And yes, i noticed that features, that got
advertised 2 years ago, are still missing, like the trivial encryption
problem.

What do you mean? What gets built regularly and why does that bother you?

And yes, i noticed that features, that got
advertised 2 years ago, are still missing, like the trivial encryption
problem.

Could you be more specific?

    It still gets build regulary.

The packages are build (ir)regulary, could be an autobuild if something
commonly used is changed. So someone is working on "it".

i did not waste my time with a bugreport. simple, isn't it?

summary:

- approx. 2 years ago
- promised basic DLS (? DNL maybe ? ) Encryption for the bridge video
streams "in a few weeks". never happend.

Workaround:

use a vpn connection to the bridgeserver. But, it would be way more
better if a basic encryption would be done with the client itself.

What you point to above are the Jitsi Videobridge builds. Jitsi videobridge
is among the most active projects in this community. What I mentioned in my
original post here is that support for Jitsi Videobridge in the Jitsi
client hasn't been maintained recently so you shouldn't expect a lot of
progress there. If you need video conferencing then this community's answer
is Jitsi Meet + Jitsi Videobridge.

That said, I didn't mean to imply you were wasting your time. I am just
trying to give you an exact view of the situation.

And yes, i noticed that features, that got

DTLS has been implemented in Jitsi Videobridge more than 18 months ago and
encryption is currently working with the Jitsi Meet clients.
