[jitsi-users] Twitter

Hi!

Is there somehow possible to add Twitter account into Jitsi? Or is it so
proprietary, that it would not be possible?

Best Regards,
Edmund

Caveat: i'm /not/ one of the developers.

Unlike the protocol for Skype, the specification for the Twitter
protocol is readily available. So my guess is that it would be
technically possible to add Twitter support to Jitsi - in which case it
would become a matter of people volunteering to do the work
involved. However, since Twitter is not an Instant Messaging protocol -
it's asynchronous - the Jitsi team might feel that it's outside the
bounds of the services Jitsi is seeking to provide (in a similar way
that providing email support probably would be).

Interesting! Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Still, that's not the same as /direct/ Twitter support in the Jitsi
client itself (i.e. as distinct from via a gateway XMPP server) ....

Alexis.

It can be done: http://apis.io/Twitter

Matt Brown:

It can be done: http://apis.io/Twitter

Please read about the legal and technical restrictions imposed by Twitter.

See for example:

 Which brings me back to my comments about: It depends whether (a)
the dev team think it would be appropriate to include in Jitsi, and (b)
whether people are willing to volunteer to do the work involved.
