[jitsi-users] try to use 32 bit outlook dll when 64bit fails

#1

Hello,

I've tested sip-communicator and jitsi a little bit and its great.

I've found a problem with outlook contacts lookup:

If your using 64 bit windows 7 and have a 32 bit Outlook Installation (which
is the default on 64 bit (!), Microsoft explains this with plugin
compatability.),

then on jitsi startup the outlook connector returns:

net.java.sip.communicator.plugin.addrbook.msoutlook.MsOutlookMAPIHResultExce
ption: MAPI_E_NO_SUPPORT

Using 32 bit jitsi on the 64 bit win7 connects OK and Outlook lookup works,
but this has the disadvantage of non working screen sharing, so this is not
an option.

So I would suggest if you could try to connect to 32bit Outlook DLL if 64bit
fails.

Seb, why wouldn't the 32-bit screen sharing work on 64-bit Windows?

With the information we currently have, I can not tell why. I will give a try on my Windows 64-bit.

Ognian, we need more information about your setup to understand why 32-bit screen sharing does not work on 64-bit Windows. Can you provide logs and some information like JVMs installed, environment variables such as JAVA_HOME, ... ?

So I would suggest if you could try to connect to 32bit Outlook DLL if 64bit

I am not sure 64-bit JVM can load 32-bit DLL.

FYI I have tested a desktop sharing session (i.e. with remote control) between a Windows x64 with 32-bit Jitsi (sharer) and a Linux machine (client), and all seems to work fine.

Hello,

Thanks for your support and sorry, I made an error in my first post. Of
course you can't call 32 bit dll from 64 bit one, but outlook is a com
server, so it should be possible to call a 32 bit com server process from 64
bit one, at least in theory (or are you using something different?).
Now I tried it your way:
-uninstall 64bit jitsi
-install 32bit jitsi
And it worked with the current version. Looks like the problem is gone...
Only Video is damn slow and audio quality is bad although I'm on a 1GBit LAN
and I'm using registrar less sip...
I have tried with music@iptel.org this sounds OK, any Ideas?
Ognian
