[jitsi-users] Take over calls?

#1

Hi,

is it possible to take over a call? E.g. someone is calling Number 1, can
Number 2 take that call (Colleague is not as his desk or similar)?

Best Regards
Falco

That's typically a function of the back-end system. It's in sipXcom (
sipxcom.org) and called directed call pickup.

FYI (shameless plug), Jitsi provisioning coming in 15.10. Currently in
beta expecting release at the beginning of next week.

That's typically a function of the back-end system. It's in sipXcom
(sipxcom.org <http://sipxcom.org>) and called directed call pickup.

In FreePBX this is called "General Call Pickup" in the "Feature Codes" menu and is set to "*8".
This picks the first waiting call. There is also a directed call pick up to pick up a specific call with "**<extension>" (so if #1 and #2 are ringing, #3 can choose to pick a specific one).
See http://community.freepbx.org/t/how-to-pickup-a-call-ringing-at-another-extension/565/11

In jitsi, you can add "*8" as a contact, so the user can just "call" this contact in order to pick up a call. This might be easier than opening the dialpad and enter the feature code directly.

Regards,
Peter
