[jitsi-users] starting a meeting from Android (app or mobile browser)

#1

Hi: I have installed the Android app. Immediately upon start, it
provides a text field with the tip "Enter room name". Below this
field, there is a button titled "join". Best I can tell, that is *ALL*
the app offers (not even a settings or configuration button).
It seems the app is set up (and possibly limited) to JOIN a meeting
that is IN PROGRESS.
But what if one wants to START a meeting through the app...is it
possible? If yes, how?
Also, how to set it up (if possible) as as a conference CALL(that is,
voice only)?
I also tried to visit https://meet.jit.si/ with a mobile browser. But
then, it seems the site forces the mobile visitor to go to the app
(see above). Hence, I have found no way to start a meetingof any kind
from an Android device.
Thanks in advance.

There is a Windows setting that controls microphone privacy and allows
specific apps to access the mic (see attached screenshot). However,
nothing specific to Jitsi is listed.
Thanks in advance.

few user-developed youtube video has been useful.

Hi Virgilio,

Indeed. We're gradually working on adding more there. For example,
we'll soon have a settings button as well!

It seems the app is set up (and possibly limited) to JOIN a meeting that is
IN PROGRESS.

But what if one wants to START a meeting through the app...is it possible?
If yes, how?

Jitsi Meet is a randevú service where people meet in the same room. So
regardless of whether you want to "start" the meeting or join a
meeting "in progress", you merely specify the name of the room in
which you want to meet and hit JOIN.

Also, how to set it up (if possible) as as a conference CALL(that is, voice
only)?

Once you join, you may tap on the button that looks like an eye to go
in audio-only mode. When we introduce the settings button, you'll also
be able to configure the app to join without video from the start.
