[jitsi-users] Stable release

#1

Hi,

I am keen to try jicofo and jvb with the file descriptor leak fixes etc.
but I see that the last stable release was Jan 5th. I don't really want to
use a daily build without knowing how stable it is expected to be.

is there any imminent plans to do a stable release?

Thanks.

#2

Hi,

We are working on some issues and looking forward to the stable
release, no ETA at the moment.

Hi,

There are some issues we are working around, that are around simulcast
and adaptivity. Also, a user is still experiencing a file descriptors
leak after few fixes and we are trying to debug and analyze the
problem with its help: https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-meet/issues/1390
We are working every day and approaching stable, any help debugging
and narrowing down those problems is welcome.
Are you hitting the problems with file descriptors when using latest
jvb version?

No, I was asking about latest jvb like build 935, after the version in
stable there were at least two fixes on the subject. I'm asking cause
a user reported the problem in latest versions and we are trying to
identify whether is it an isolated problem or other are seeing it
also.

Hi,

Thank you so much for all your great work Jitsi team!

We are testing your releases in our environment. We are testing PC and the apps on iOs and Android. Please note that we see the video quality degraded on simulcast compared to disabling simulcast. The quality with simulcast off is much better, especially when you have excellent bandwidth.
The second issue we notice is adaptivity sometimes is slow. For example, when a user joins a session (while simulcast is off), and there is bad connectivity for one user. The new person will get black screens fro significant time even if the signal improved a lot.

Please let us know how we can help you with logs, etc. We will be very very happy.

Thanks,
Osama

Hi we are using version 926, with simulcast on.

When a user uses TCP (on port 443), sometimes the bandwidth upload is
slowing down (because other users are uploading data in the same local
network), here is what happens:

Simulcast detects the speed changes, and the user with bad band, get the
video muted(audio works), and even if the bandwidth is changing (much more
upload speed), simulcast doesn't change the behavior...

With simulcast Off, the quality is better, but if someone goes with bad
bandwith, then black screen comes up.

I would like to test the simulcast adaptivity, with the new settings.

Thanks!
