[jitsi-users] Simulcast doesn't work in Chrome 67 beta

#1

Hi,

We recently encountered a problem using Chrome 67 beta on Jitsi Meet.

It seems the video sent by 67 would be received by others (e.g. Chrome 66 stable) showing skipped frames and unreliable frame size. It’s as if the SFU couldn’t figure out which frame on which layer to send.

Also, video from Chrome 66 is received by 67 correctly. If I disable Simulcast or use P2P, I no longer have any video problems.

To replicate the issue: go to https://beta.meet.jit.si/IntriguingOrangesDevourLoyally#config.p2p.enabled=false on Chrome 67 beta, and see its feed from another browser (or another tab).

Is this a known issue? I can’t find anything matching my experience on jvb’s GitHub nor chromium bug list.

Thanks,
Jerry

Hi George,

I’ve just tried latest Chrome 67 beta on beta.meet.jit.si and the same problem still happens – have you found anything to indicate whether this is a chrome bug or jvb bug?

Thanks,
Jerry Hu

Also, Google isn't going to be fixing this issue, so we're testing a fix
for the bridge and we should be able to release it by the end of this week.

Following up on this one, 1059 introduced a regression where the quality for the on-stage participant would needlessly oscillate between LD/SD/HD. JVB@1062 contains a fix for this regression.
