[jitsi-users] Setting a default account for a multi-service contact entry?

#1

Hello Everyone,

I have a contact to which I have one entry in my buddy list but
multiple services I can interact with him on (1 SIP and 2 XMPP
accounts). When I click on the chat button for him, it automatically
selects the SIP account (which does not support text in this case). I
have t manually select the other account.

Is there a way to change the default for a contact?

Thanks!
Anthony

If Jktsi selects it, then the SIP server is reporting support for
messaging. That's what needs to get fixed. Alternatively you can just take
the SIP contact out of this meta contact.

It would be nice to have a send from option and it looks like this is
partially there based on the small icon on the left in the chat text box.
What's that icon for?

So, just to make sure I understand, there is no way to specify which
account, in a multi-protocol contact, is the "default" account.
Basically, Jitsi just picks one, right?

I've opted to simply separate the SIP from XMPP accounts as per your
advice. Thanks for the response!

No, not right. There is a way to do this: you simply click on the icon
on the left and choose the protocol you want to send from. What you
can't do is specify the one that is selected by default.

I am not sure I see what you mean by "partially". Is there anything
specific that you are missing?

For choosing the exact contact you'd like to send your message to.

Cheers,
