[jitsi-users] running two or more jitsi instances

#1

i tried to run two or more jitsi 2.0 instances by starting jitsi with -m
and -c options, but got

$ jitsi -m -c .jitsi.test
Failed to create directory .jitsi.test

what did i do wrong?

Hey Juha,

Seems like Jitsi was trying to create a directory at a location where it
couldn't. Possible lack of permissions?

By the way, what's the reason you'd like two instances?

jh@siika:~$ jitsi -c .jitsi.test -m
Failed to create directory .jitsi.test
^C
jh@siika:~$ mkdir .jitsi.test
jh@siika:~$

but with absolute path it works:

jh@siika:~$ jitsi -c /home/jh/.jitsi.test -m

i have no idea where jitsi tried to create the directory if absolute
path is not given.

just for testing purposes. when testing presence, for example, it is
nice to see the status from both parties' point of view.

jh@siika:~ jitsi \-c \.jitsi\.test \-m Failed to create directory \.jitsi\.test ^C jh@siika:\~ mkdir .jitsi.test
jh@siika:~$

but with absolute path it works:

jh@siika:~$ jitsi -c /home/jh/.jitsi.test -m

OK, so this is settled then?

You could do this within the same instance, by adding both accounts there.
Just FYI.

dir in current dir if absolute path is not given. it is still a
mystery, what jitsi tried to do.

i tried that, but could not see the status and status of contacts of
both accounts in the window at the same time.

from my part yes, but it would make sense for jitsi to try to create the
