Jitsi seems to have some trouble in networks behind a firewall.
I am communicating to several people via Jitsi and I am gonadescribe
where I am having problems getting a direct connection to some
of them.
First of all: My own Computer: I am behind a router but all
ports are
forwarded to me so there shouldn't be any kind of problem, I can
host a
Web server on my box and its reachable from outside. This also
implies
that there should not be a problem with bidirectional
connections.
I have installed pidgin and Jitsi.
Friend 1:
Is behind a Firewall, has not forwarded any ports.
Has Jitsi and pidgin installed.
He is on Windows so he can't use pidgin for a/v.Friend 2:

Has pidginFriend 3:

Has JitsiNow the different connections, sometimes in both Directions as
it makes
a difference.
1,2,3: Friends 1-3
I: me
P,J: Pidgin, Jitsi1J---call-->IP
Fails with "Failed to create OutgoingJingleSession.does not support jingle or Google Talk"
1J<--call---IP
Works1J<--call-->IJ
Fails in both Directions with some ICE-error2P<--file---IP
Works, direct connection, as fast as my upload (XEP-0065)3J<--file-->IP
Works, but extremly slow (1Kb/s) because it falls back to In-Band
Bytestream (XEP-0047)
3J<--call-->IP
worksNow the strange stuff starts:
3J<--call-->IJ
Works,
but when adding video (mine does not get detected) I can see myfriends
video and can hear him but suddenly 96-99% of my audio-packets
get lost.
Additional Info Friend 1:
I have captured some raw XMPP-blocks using the Pidgin XMPP-console. My
friends and my public IP are detected correctly, but also our
internal
IP-s are listed. He also sends some IPv6-addresses.
I have also captured an failed attempt of calling each other viaJ<->J
in tcpdump format and will send it to interested developers.
PS: I have already emailed my webcam-problem to this list but
never
recived an answer. Should I resend it as i have accidentally
answered to
an other thread?
