[jitsi-users] Question about client

#1

Hello,

Great work with Jitsi!

I just wanted to ask if the multiplexing of the video is done by the client.

Thank you in advance,
Iliana

Hello,

Hello,

Great work with Jitsi!

Thank you for the kind words!

I just wanted to ask if the multiplexing of the video is done by the client.

I'm not sure I'm answering the right question, let me know if I misunderstood. If you are referring to jitsi-meet (e.g. https://meet.jit.si), then yes: the client receives a separate video stream for each participant and displays each one in a separate "video" element.

Regards,
Boris

That was exactly my question thank you for the quick response.

So far everything has worked perfectly, I successfully did a video call.

However I had an issue sharing my desktop screen. I will try again. Is
there any way you could help me with that? Maybe if I could share some
logs, and if yes which?

Thank you very much again.

Good to hear!

To help here we would need to know:
- What the problem looked like (did you click the button? was there an error?)
- What address you are using (e.g. https://meet.jit.si)
- What browser you are using (including the version)
- Whether you have installed a browser extension for screen sharing

Logs from the javascript console might also help (specifically look for "screen").

Regards,
Boris

Hello again,

So, I installed the extension for desktop sharing and it worked
(wondering, will every user need to add the hash id into the jitsi
meet config file?).

But, I have an issue with jicofo.

If you are making your own deployment, then yes, you need to create your own extension and update the jitsi-meet config file.

But, I have an issue with jicofo.

Thank you.

Initially the client enters a MUC and sends an IQ to jicofo asking it to join the room. This is what failed here.

The actual error (the element inside the "iq") would be useful. You should also examine jocofo's logs and the logs of your XMPP server.

Boris
