[jitsi-users] Presence and calls to Skype not working on ippi.fr

#1

Hello,

I'm very interested to try Jitsi with ippi.fr (listed as partner on https://jitsi.org/Main/Partners), since it can become a full alternative for Skype for me. However, I have several problems with it.

1) I do not see online status of my contacts (also registered on ippi.fr), even though "enable presence (SIMPLE)" flag is active in the settings. If I enable "Force peer-to-peer presence mode" flag, then the messaging stops working, and I'm still not able to see online status of my contacts.

2) ippi.fr claims to support not only online presence, but also free calls to Skype (https://www.ippi.com/index.php?page=all-services). I have tried to add a contact `username@skype.com` in Jitsi, however, all calls get failed.

3) I'm not sure if ippi.fr has an XCAP to store contact list. Do you maybe know correct XCAP settings for ippi.fr, or if it is possible to just use third-party XCAP with it?

Do you have any idea how to fix it?

Thank you very much in advance,

Kind Regards,

···

Are your contacts all using Ippi as well? I'm not aware of any other SIP provider who supports presence.

2) ippi.fr claims to support not only online presence, but also free calls to Skype (https://www.ippi.com/index.php?page=all-services). I have tried to add a contact `username@skype.com` in Jitsi, however, all calls get failed.

Not sure about that one. Most likely this won't work anymore and the Ippi website hasn't been updated. But you'd need to ask them directly to clarify this.

3) I'm not sure if ippi.fr has an XCAP to store contact list. Do you maybe know correct XCAP settings for ippi.fr, or if it is possible to just use third-party XCAP with it?

As with 1), all your contacts would need to be on the same server. As far as I know Ippi doesn't support XCAP.

If you want federated presence, XMPP is the protocol of choice. However, I'm not aware of any servers who support calls to regular phone calls over XMPP (most servers don't even support calls at all).

Do you have any idea how to fix it?

Sorry, but there's no 'this resolves all problems' solution.

Thank you very much in advance,

Kind Regards,

Hi All,

I managed to set up the jitsi videobridge. There are two persons on the same conference room. When I tried to look another person's video, I got the "...is having connectivity issues" and with Error: No opened data channels found (Developer Tool). Who can help me?

I do not have much contacts, I just tried it with a couple of friends of mine, by myself I have registered 2 accounts, so all together 4, and all on ippi.fr. The presence is not working - all contacts are always grey, even if I'm exchanging messages with them.

Kind Regards,

Andrey.

It is possible that Ippi doesn't even support SIMPLE anymore, but really I'm not sure. I also don't have multiple accounts at Ippi so that I could test.
Have you tried asking Ippis support if the advertised features are still supported by their servers?

Kind Regards,

Andrey.

Actually, it was never working, since I also tried Jitsi 1 and 2 years ago - it was not working as well. If you want to try, you can just register second ippi account.

For the skype - I found in ippi FAQ, that I should add username@skype.ippi.com, then it works.

If you will try it, please be very careful with "Force peer-to-peer presence mode" flag. When I enable it, messaging stopped working immediately, and after disabling it and restarting Jitsi, I was not able to log in into one of ippi accounts anymore (I was forced to delete an account and add it again, which caused all contacts from that account to disappear).

Kind Regards,

Andrey.
