[jitsi-users] One more question: Camera access

#1

Hello Again,

I'm slowly getting acquainted with Jitsi Meet and absolutely love it.
A friend and I have been playing with it and we ran onto an issue that
I can't find the answer to in the source.

When he turns the camera off, a slash is placed through the camera
icon at the top of his screen and other participants in the conference
stop seeing video from him (the video area returns to the default
icon). However, the light on his camera never turns off.

While I assume this is some sort of bug in the way Chrome handles the
multimedia stuff of HTML5, I thought I'd ask: is his camera still
streaming video to the server and it's just not being broadcasts to
other participants or does the camera actually stop all streaming and
it's just a bug in how Chrome handles it?

Thanks!
Anthony

It is not streamed. It is just captured locally (hence the light) but
not sent anywhere. I think there might be a way to fix that but we
probably won't have the time to do so in the following weeks.

Also, sorry for top-posting. I can't figure out how to do inline on Gmail!!

Type below the >> marks in plain text mode in gmail. If you use a mail client
like Thunderbird, it may be easier.

Thanks Jungle. I normally use Thunderbird for my regular email but I
chose not to us it with Gmail (which is why I had the problem). Anyway,
I've switched my list subscription to my regular email and it makes it a
lot less hassle.

Thanks!
