[jitsi-users] Notify all chatroom users

#1

Hi,

I'm using Jitsi with Prosody XMPP server.
When I create a chatroom and invite users, they can set in their Jitsi client
to join the chatroom automatically next time their Jitsi client starts. My problem
is that users who auto join this channel doesn't receive any notification of new
chat messages in this room until they open the chatroom.
If in the chatroom I write a message starting with a user's name, then he receives
a notification about it.
Is there a way to notify the ALL the users in the chatroom to have a look at the new messages?

Hi,

In the right hand menu there is an option "Open this room automatically
when..". If that option is set to "Open on activity" or "Open on message
only" the chat window will be opened on every message. But if the user has
chosen "Open on important messages only" (which is our default value) the
chat window will be opened only for important events (like role changing
for example).

Opening the chat window of a user that is member of a chat room depends on
his own settings for the chat room (the value of the "Open this room
automatically when.." option).

I don't know any other way to notify a member of a chat room than send him
a message with his name in it. You can type more than one name in a message
and notify more than one member.

Regards,
Hristo.

Hi Hristo,

Thank you for your answer, I think the "Open this room automatically when.." option is what I'm looking for, but I can't find it.
Can you tell me exactly where can I find this setting?
If I right click on the chatroom I've got only: Open, Join, Join as, Leave, Remove, Change nickname, Join automatically

Hi,

Which version of jitsi are you using? Maybe you are using older version. Please try with latest nightly build.

Regards,
Hristo.

Hi,

I was using 2.4.4997-x64, but now after upgrading to 2.5.5115-x64, I can see the room option you mentioned.
This solved my issue, so thank you very much for your help.
