[jitsi-users] No Video

#1

Just trying the client out to see if it might be a solution for a project we are putting together.
Everything seems to work fine but no video.
In the settings, the app can see the mic/camera but in a session, it never shows video.

What should I be looking at in order to try and determine what the problem might be.

Thanks.

Hi Mike,

Do you try a call with SIP or XMPP ? Does the two peers use Jitsi ?

Please send us the most detailed information about your testbed like OS, Jitsi version, network configuration (does the two peers are behind NAT or in same LAN, ...), ...

For further investigation, please send us the logs of the two peers (see http://jitsi.org/index.php/Documentation/FAQ#logs).

Regards,

jitsi 1.0 beta1 build 3689

Trying jitsi, sip to physical sip phone;
'Toggle video' not sure which means on/off but neither one sends or receives. The toggle video function should really say 'toggle video on' or 'toggle video off'.
Same test using x-lite and the sip phone, both sides send/receive.

Trying jitsi SIP to another workstation running x-lite through asterisk server;
No video either way. Can see preview window on x-lite.

Trying jitsi SIP to another workstation running jitsi through asterisk server;
Can establish voice call.
Sending video from one of the pc's. One can see both small preview window and video window of the other person.
The other side only sees a gray window with an X in it.

Trying jitsi xmpp to another workstation running jitsi;
I called the other client. That first client started a small video window and I could see myself. The other client went into a gray window and nothing else. I clicked on the video camera icon on the second client and the window changed to the one with the smaller icon for a moment then it went back to a full gray one. On the first client, I now could see my small image window and the larger video window of the remote client.
So basically, I can see video from win xp clients but I cannot send video to a win client.

The last test was making an xmpp call between two XP boxes.
On both xp machines, we cannot send or receive video, only audio.
We also tried turning off the firewalls on both machines.

Please send us the most detailed information about your testbed like OS,
Jitsi version, network configuration (does the two peers are behind NAT
or in same LAN, ...), ...

Right now, it's all on the same LAN. OS's which we have tried are XP to XP and this last test was Win7 to XP.

For further investigation, please send us the logs of the two peers (see
http://jitsi.org/index.php/Documentation/FAQ#logs).

I don't see where the logs are written but can send them if you can let me know where they are.
I admit, we've not had the chance to read the manual yet but are usually pretty good at figuring these things out. In fact, we try not to read the manuals first because we want to get a sense of what the end user experience will be like as most don't read.

It sounds as if your asterisk is responding without video but we'd need
to see the logs in order to make sure.

That's exactly what the above link is saying.

I don't think so because it works fine with x-lite and video phones we have. The ones that never seem to work appear to be related to XP.

That's exactly what the above link is saying.

Ah, didn't even catch that as I've been doing too many things at once today. I'll check that out and provide more input.
Is there a web version of this client, sort of like sparkweb?

Thanks.
