[jitsi-users] No audio with jitsi-1.1, but OK with jitsi-1.0

#1

Hi,

I have been using jitsi-1.0-latest-x86.exe on my Windows XP machine fine.

I have also tried three randomly chosen recent jitsi-1.1 nightly builds:

jitsi-1.1.4455.10417-x86.exe
jitsi-1.1.4458.10420-x86.exe
jitsi-1.1.4475.10451-x86.exe

All of them have the same problem: I get no sound output at all through my headphone speakers (audio jack connection). I also tried a USB headset - same problem.

On jitsi's call display, the speaker levels go up and down in time with the audio I should hear, but no sound actually comes out of my speakers! It's not just audio in a call that doesn't work. Even testing the sounds in Events produces no speaker audio in all the jitsi-1.1 versions I've tried.

Then I re-install jitsi-1.0, with all the same settings, and the speakers work fine again. I've tried this several times, and it's always the same. It's as if jitsi-1.1 outputs its audio signal differently to jitsi-1.0.

Has anyone seen and solved this problem before? I'd like to try some of the later jitsi versions!

Thanks,
Mark.

I am having the same issue with Jitsi 2.0.4506.10533.

Clicking the audio test buttons works.

In a call I can see the levels moving for other endpoint's audio, but
no audio plays. I'm on Windows XP, wired headset. Soundcard is ATI
AA01.

Regards,

James

If you click the headphone icon while in a call you can increase/decrease
the volume. Could you make sure that the volume is not set to the minimum
there?

Boris

It is set to maximum, and I had toggled that as well. Speaker volume is also maximum on the headset and my desktop speakers. Thank you for the reply!

Just thought I would report back since it is now working:
Mainboard: Asus M4A78T-E
Sound: VIA VT1708S (not ati as I first incorrectly reported)
OS: XP

I was running the latest audio driver from ASUS (last released 2009, V6.0.1.7031). I downloaded the latest audio driver from VIA directly (released 2012, v6.0.10.1200) and everything is working as expected so far.

Thanks for the great software!
