[jitsi-users] New verification method - Contacts show as unverified and without a fingerprint

#1

I verified a contact with a Secret Question, which was a lot nicer
than having to compare fingerprints but he still shows as Not Verified
in Security - Chat, which is a bit confusing. It doesn't show a
fingerprint for him either.

I know the Secret Question method means the users don't have to view
the fingerprints to verify but he should still have one associated
with him shouldn't he? Either way, I think it's important to show Yes
in the Verified column, not No as that's confusing.

Hello Derek,

I'm glad that you like the new verification method!

I know the Secret Question method means the users don't have to view

the fingerprints to verify but he should still have one associated
with him shouldn't he?

You are right!

Either way, I think it's important to show Yes

in the Verified column, not No as that's confusing.

Again, you are right! In fact, that is exactly how things are supposed to
work.

Can you please double check whether your contact really is verified and
that the fingerprint still does not appear in Security - Chat? If that's
the case can you please send me logs to marin@jitsi.org and I will look
into it.

Thanks!

Regards,
Marin

Hi Marin

I updated Jitsi, so that might have helped but after that it seems the
one contact I had that was verified but not showing a fingerprint now
does. The other contact that was showing No wasn't actually verified
and once I did that, it also shows Yes and the fingerprint, so there
doesn't seem to be any problem now.

Derek
