[jitsi-users] New to jitsi

#1

I installed jitsi yesterday!
It seems like a great project but some things makes me uncomfortable.
For example there is no notification when the user come online and the
notification for the incoming message sounds even when the window has focus
something that is not needed...

I hope those features will be added soon

What do you mean? by looking at the contacts list you can see when
someone is available or not.

and the

I´m a newbie too so I don´t know if it´s possible to tweak that.

Of course if I see the contact list I can see who is online, but I would like a sound to notify me that someone just logged in.
Every other client I used so far has that feature

Indeed, we don't currently have this feature. I don't think anyone is
working on it but we'd be more than happy to accept a patch.

We decided to leave those on by default. The fact that a window is on
focus doesn't tell us anything about the user and whether or not they
are currently able to see the incoming messages. Many users would like
to still hear a notification for an incoming message even if they are afk.

I agree that the possibility to turn that off would be a good think and
we'd be happy to accommodate a patch here too.

Cheers,
Emil
