[jitsi-users] Multi-user text chat?

#1

Hi,

Until now I´ve only used Jitsi for One-to-one (person to person) communications.
At work, one of the features we used a lot in Skype was "group text chat".

Is there the option in Jitsi to start a group text chat? Is such group
chat "remembered" so that later when one comes back online one can
"re-join" such chat?.

If there isn´t, I wonder if group text chat couldn´t be integrated
into Jitsi by using a jit.si IRC server, and private channels?.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

This is just a solution to the problem. It doesn't directly answer your
question either.

You can Install a jabber server that offers chat rooms such as ejabberd or
openfire. Create different chat rooms just like you have meeting rooms in
offices and you can have group chat along-with your buddies in one of those
chat rooms whom you can invite into the room as well.

The chat rooms can be private (password protected), public(without password,
discoverable), persistent,etc.

Regards,
Adnan
