[jitsi-users] Mix WebRTC client and JitsiDesktop Communicator in same conference

#1

Dear all,

Could you let me know if there is one way to join the same conference through WebRTC and JitsiDesktop ?
It means set up this conference through WebRTC and use a desktop client to join this one (or vice versa).
(my archi through Openfire works fine for all types of client)

Thx in advance

Kind regards,

This is currently not possible. It is something that we might add in the
future, but probably not anytime soon.

I have somewhat related questions:

1) Does Jitsi (as a client or as a framework) support clients using different audio/video codecs in the same conference?
I suspect that for video it could be the case, but for audio it could be problematic because you need to mix different audio streams which would require initial transcoding in case of different audio codecs.

2) Is it possible to have a conference where one of the clients is using WebRTC and other one is dialing in via e.g. SIP? If not, what are the main obstacles currently? Is such a feature planned?

Leo
