[jitsi-users] Meet general bandwidth usage

#1

Hey all,

I'm pretty sure this has been brought up and answered before but I
seem to fail to find the answer, I'm sorry.

What is the general bandwidth usage of Meet? The data I'm being asked about is:

(1) How much on average does a Meet client send to Videobridge? The
data should be broken up by video resolution if possible.

(2) How much on average does Videobridge send to a Meet client with 1
large video and between 1 to 5 small videos in a conference? I guess
the data here may be derived from the data which answers question (1)
but, if the answer to question (2) is readily available, let me have
it.

Thank you very much,
Lyubo Marinov

Hello Lyubo,

If you need an average, I guess we could calculate this using the
InfluxDB data. I personally don't have any data to share but from what
I've seen in the past, even 180p streams can go up to 2Mbps. It depends
on the network conditions, the congestion control algorithm and the
hardware capabilities of the endpoint.
