[jitsi-users] <Media request> Jitsi artwork and general fact check questions

#1

Hello there,

Greetings from California. I hope that contacting you this way is OK (as I
was not able to find a media- or press-specific group).

My name is Aoife McEvoy, and I am working on a story for
InformationWeek.com about VoIP, including video calls, for personal and
business use.

This is not a review assignment, rather an overview of available services.
I am researching Jitsi and I have checked out available info via Jitsi.org.

I have one request and one question.

I obtained the logo via your site:

https://jitsi.org/Main/Goodies

Question: But I am also wondering if you have a logo with your company name
that you could send me? (Hi-res jpg would be best!).

Thank you. (Great if I could get this from you by day's end, Monday, 4/15.)

2. You indicate on your site that an Android version of Jitsi is in
development (with no plans for an iOS version). What is the latest status
on the Android version?

My best,
Aoife ("Eefah")

Hi,
I have currently been using Jitsi V1 authenticating an XMPP account
against an Icewarp server and all has been working ok.
I upgraded to Jitsi V2 (64bit windows) recently and I cannot
successfully authenticate my XMPP account using SASL Digest-MD5. It
repeatedly keeps asking for the password yet i know the password is
correct.
Log shows: SASL authentication DIGEST-MD5 failed:
temporary-auth-failure

If I deactivate MD5 authentication on the server, it successfully
authenticates using SASL PLAIN.

Any ideas?

Hi Aoife.
Im not an official developer (nor an unofficial) but I will still try
to answer the question:

2. You indicate on your site that an Android version of Jitsi is
in development (with no plans for an iOS version). What is the
latest status on the Android version?

https://jitsi.org/Documentation/FAQ#android

Jitsi for Android is still in development and not realy usable right
now. Things that are possible right now:
- - logging into sip and xmpp accounts
- - calling (no encryption)
- - there is an option to create xmpp accounts but it seems not to be
working right now.
- - there is an option to use your cam and set its resolution

someone stated once that most of the work for jitsi on android is done
but that some things wich have a great impact on usability (like
chating or having a contactlist) are not ready yet.
