[jitsi-users] Logitech webcam not recognized by Jitsi

#1

Hi,

I just installed Jtsi 2.2.4603.9615 on my Linux Mint 14 box.
Unfortunately my Logitech webcam is not working with Jitsi. The options
dialog shows "<No Device>".

The output from v4l2-ctl --all is:

$ v4l2-ctl --all
Driver Info (not using libv4l2):
    Driver name : spca561
    Card type : Camera
    Bus info : usb-0000:00:12.2-2.3.2
    Driver version: 3.5.5
    Capabilities : 0x85000001
        Video Capture
        Read/Write
        Streaming
Format Video Capture:
    Width/Height : 176/144
    Pixel Format : 'GBRG'
    Field : None
    Bytes per Line: 176
    Size Image : 25344
    Colorspace : SRGB
    Custom Info : 00000002
Video input : 0 (spca561: ok)
Streaming Parameters Video Capture:
    Frames per second: invalid (0/0)
    Read buffers : 2
Priority: 2

However, the camera works with several tools like Camorama, Google
Hangouts, Skype, ...

Regards,
     Michael

are you using openJDK or Oracle's JRE?

I had a similar issue and switching to oracle's JRE fixed it.
just download manually oracle's jre and before running jitsi do:

export JAVA_PATH=/where/oraclejre/was/decompressed/
jitsi

good luck!
