[jitsi-users] Jitsi XMPP connection failed

#1

Hi.
I have problem with Jitsi and XMPP. Jitsi keeps failing to connect to any XMPP server. I use Windows 7 as my OS, few weeks ago before I've uninstalled Jitsi, the XMPP support was working fine. Right now on other IM client all accounts work fine, i can connect to my jit.si account using Pidgin without any problems. I've installed Jitsi on my brother's laptop also, he can connect to his jabber account without any problem. We are connected to the same router. When my firewall is disabled, Jitsi still can't connect to XMPP servers, other services like googletalk, facebook work fine even if firewall is enabled. What might be the problem of failing connection, anybody know how to fix it? I use OpenDNS (on both my PC and my brother laptop), but even if I disable OpenDNS and set connection to resolve IP/DNS automatically, XMPP still doesn't work in Jitsi. I write again, on other IM clients XMPP work fine.

We'll likely need to look at Jitsi's logs
(https://jitsi.org/Documentation/FAQ#logs).

I've tried to create new accounts, log in to few exisiting ones, tried default and different settings. I don't know what could be blocking Jitsi from connecting to XMPP servers.

Find out SRV record for the domain. The try to telnet to the host on port
5222 and see if you are able to view blank scren or that fails. That way
you will be sure at least you are able to reach to the xmpp servers.

Hi. I've looked into DNS advanced options in Jitsi. I went into "DNS Security (DNSSEC)" and enabled DNSSEC resolver. Then in Custom name servers I've entered OpenDNS I'm using. XMPP service connected after restarting Jitsi.

Actually it was the problem mention above, xmpp.jit.si was not blocked. To fix the issue I had to enable DNSSEC resolver.
