I've recently done some new tests of the current Jitsi nightlies for
Android, and wanted to share my findings (sorry if this is the wrong
place to do so?).
Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 with original Samsung firmware:
Works very well, the only problem I encountered was that when doing XMPP
calls to Jitsi under GNU/Linux there was no audio. Video was fine, so
no problems with NAT or the like (I'm using a TURN server).
Samsung Galaxy S3 with Cyanogenmod 10.1.3:
Works for chats with OTR, but the screen goes black and I have to kill
the process when trying voice and/or video. However, in this case audio
actually worked on calls between the two mobile devices, and I was also
able to get video from phone to tablet sometimes (plus a ZRTP handshake
confirmed on the tablet), but as mentioned already, in all cases the UI
completely crashed on the phone and in the end I had to kill the process.
I'm very aware that the Android port is only experimental at the moment,
and I have to say that I'm very pleased with the current status. I
tried from time to time over the last months, and only today I had the
impression that it actually works already "almost" (on the tablet at
least). This is very great stuff and I'm really looking forward to a
working app! Keep up the work!
Are these known problems or can I help you fix them somehow? If they
are not already being worked on, I can try to get log files and send
them. Just let me know what situation of the ones described I should
log, then I can post the log files here.
