[jitsi-users] Jitsi on Android with echo cancellation

#1

Hello,

I'd like to say thanks to the developers who are working on the Android version of Jitsi. I recently tried the Nightly build (v183) between two Android tablets (OS version 4.2.x) with a colleague and was amazed how well it is working and coming along, even as alpha release!

The one question I have is about when echo cancellation will be supported. It appears in the settings menu the option for echo cancellation is grayed-out and not available, is this because of specific codecs (Opus) being used? When talking between the two devices the echo is unfortunately bad on both sides which makes it difficult to use. It is possible to use ear-pieces on both to try to reduce the echo. I observed the problem both on Android-to-Windows as well as Android-to-Android.

Thank you again,
-Rosko

Thanks for your kind words!

Not sure. We are currently concentrating on stability issues. Echo cancellation would be among the first features we go for after that.

No.

We used to have speex there but performance wasn't terrific. We are thinking of trying WebRTC's echo canceller next.
