[jitsi-users] jitsi not working in archlinux with gnome

i've tried both jitsi-nightly( 20150401-1) and jitsi(2.8.5426-1) from
AUR and neither will work properly in archlinux with gnome 3.16.2-1. It
opens up and after complaining about some old sip account config issue
from previous jitsi installs/testing using a smallish popup window, it finishes
starting up, but is using a tiny window that you cannot get to maximize,
minimize or close. you have to killall -9 java in terminal. when starting
in terminal i get the following:

ALSA lib pcm_dsnoop.c:614:(snd_pcm_dsnoop_open) unable to open slave
ALSA lib pcm.c:2267:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM cards.pcm.rear

does jitsi have a preference on openjdk version(7 or 8)?

I tested on another machine with manjaro + xfce and it seemed to run
fine, so i'm guessing this is java/gnome related?

Thanks in advance.
