[jitsi-users] Jitsi not receiving incomming messages after a period of inactivity

#1

For the last few versions of Jitsi, I've experienced an annoying problem
that makes Jitsi difficult to use. I will admit that I am not currently
using the nightly, though this has been a problem for over a year so I
expect it might still be the currently in the nightly.

When one simply allows Jitsi to sit idle for a few hours, it will stop
receiving calls and text messages. To fix that, you need to restart
Jitsi. You can SEND message and make calls (sometimes) but you can't
receive anything.

Is anyone else having this problem? Is there a workaround or fix for it?

Thanks,
Anthony

if you see this with chatting using OTR then yes:

I did not test this conditions recently but it occurred, that after
starting OTR chat, not typing for 1-2 hrs and typing/sending new message
resulted that the message was not received.
usual error message was "...X contacted you from different session..."
or similar, I have described it several times previously in the forum.

concerning OTR chats the problem was recognized and reproduced, fixing
is delayed due to lack of resources

Please first try with the nightly.

We had 2.4.5075 (only a few version after the current stable) running at
work for almost a year and didn't notice a problem, nor do we with build
5358. Please post your logs when the problem reoccurs.

Thanks,
Anthony

Hi,

For the last few versions of Jitsi, I've experienced an annoying problem
that makes Jitsi difficult to use. I will admit that I am not currently
using the nightly, though this has been a problem for over a year so I

When one simply allows Jitsi to sit idle for a few hours, it will stop
receiving calls and text messages. To fix that, you need to restart
Jitsi. You can SEND message and make calls (sometimes) but you can't
receive anything.

Could you tell us for which accounts this happens? To clarify, what
types of accounts have you configured on Jitsi and which are active at
that time?
It helps us to know what exactly fails - if anything - since Jitsi has
support for many protocols and has a lot of features. The issue changes
significantly if *all* accounts fail at the same time as opposed to one
specific account of - for example - the SIP protocol.

Is anyone else having this problem? Is there a workaround or fix for it?

I'm not familiar with this problem, however I mostly use IRC and XMPP.

Danny

Unfortunately, I'm not talking about OTR. I'm talking about just
letting Jitsi sit idle, with no conversations going. All of a sudden,
after a time, nobody can contact you. They don't get an error and it
looks like their message sends but you never get it.

Thanks,
Anthony

I'm getting a lot of issues with the Mac version so you're not alone. Using
my webcam, remote connecting, and screen sharing makes the app crash. I
really wanted to stop using Skype, but I guess I'm forced to until these
problems are solved...
