[jitsi-users] Jitsi nightly features in stable version?

#1

Hi, I have installed Jitsi 2.4.4997 through Group Policy for my AD users, as it was latest stable version. I've altered .msi file to use my MPROV_URL parameters and it works ok. There are at least two alterations in nightly build version I think are necessary for me: - query string for LDAP contact list source - great idea to filter out disabled accounts or technical accounts and groups; - polish letter "ż" (ALT+Z) which causes backpace in current version - corrected in nighty build; Is it possible to implement somehow those features in existing installations or do I have to wait for next stable version? Does Jitsi offer quiet install so I could use "assign software" for automatic install, or do I have to use just "Offer software" so user can install it manually even without admin rights in MS Active Directory environment? What is the best way to upgrade Jitsi in such environment?--Michal--

Hi,

I have installed Jitsi 2.4.4997 through Group Policy for my AD users, as it
was latest stable version. I've altered .msi file to use my MPROV_URL
parameters and it works ok.

There are at least two alterations in nightly build version I think are
necessary for me:

- query string for LDAP contact list source - great idea to filter out
disabled accounts or technical accounts and groups;

- polish letter "ż" (ALT+Z) which causes backpace in current version -
corrected in nighty build;

Is it possible to implement somehow those features in existing installations
or do I have to wait for next stable version?

If the current nightly offers all the features you need, and you don't notice any problems with it, you might just distribute it.

Does Jitsi offer quiet install so I could use "assign software" for automatic
install, or do I have to use just "Offer software" so user can install it
manually even without admin rights in MS Active Directory environment? What
is the best way to upgrade Jitsi in such environment?

We use the following commandline:

msiexec /i “jitsi-2.5.5075-x86.msi” /l*vx “%temp%\jitsi_install_log.txt” /q /norestart REINSTALLMODE=amus CREATE_DESKTOP_SHORTCUT=0 REBOOT=ReallySuppress MSIRMSHUTDOWN=1 MPROV_URL="https://your/prov.url"

Be aware that this would kill any running instance of Jitsi without warning, so potentially interrupting a running phone call. But I guess this would not be a problem for you as the AD advertised installs run before a user is logged on (at least when I last used them).
