[jitsi-users] Jitsi Meet installed on VPS but no function is working

#1

Hi all!

First of all, I love that something like Jitsi Meet even exists and is in
development.

After some struggles I managed to install Jitsi Meet on a VPS instance from
Digital Ocean via the quick start tutorial.

However, I can not invite others, because it just says "Your conference is
currently being created...", but there is never a link.

When I try to lock the meeting this comes up:

···

-----------------------------
Secret key
This conversation isn't currently protected by a secret key. Only the owner
of the conference could set a shared key.
----------------------------------
Trying to switch off my camera with the button in the navigation also does
nothing.
When opening the chat I can't write anything. When clicking on "share
screen" nothing happens.
So at the moment my installation does nothing else than showing my webcam.
Does anyone have a solution for this?
One other question: At the moment anyone could access the meeting interface
(not that they can do much, as there are no functions), but it would be
great if the interface could be protected by password somehow.
Best regards,
Holger

Hi Holder,

Do you have any errors in the javascript console?

Could you please send the logs to us? You can download them from the button in the left bottom corner of the page.

Regards,
Hristo.

Hi Holger,

Do you have the following lines in your nginx config file:
location /http-bind
{
  proxy_pass http://localhost:5280/http-bind;
  proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $remote_addr;
  proxy_set_header Host $http_host;
}

Also is the bosh module enabled in the prosody config file? You should have the following line:
-- HTTP modules
              "bosh"; -- Enable BOSH clients, aka "Jabber over HTTP"

Regards,
Hristo.
