[jitsi-users] Jitsi Java 8 OS X

#1

Hello List,
Is it possible to run Jitsi using Java 8 on OS X? Would like to make use of TLS1.2 and other security enhancements. Looks like Jitsi is looking for Java 6.

#2

Upon further exploration, inside of Jitsi/Contents/Info.plist I see the following sections:
JVMVersion 1.6*
I have JDK 1.8.0_25 and java -version shows that this one is default for my user. Changing JVMVersion to "1.8*" gives an error saying no valid Java 1.8 found.
Looking further I see this:
java.library.path and jna.library.path
These are both pointing at "$JAVAROOT/lib/native/mac:$.{system.DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH}"
I would assume that this needs to point to the Oracle Java root which is under /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/ rather than /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/
My question is, can this be done by altering the Info.plist?
TIA

Hi,

the launcher that starts Jitsi supports java 1.6. This was already
discussed, you can check for example this thread for further info:

Happy to see the latest Jitsi builds for OS X no longer require Java6. Good job! Working great now that TLS1.2 connections are supported.
