[jitsi-users] Jitsi + Headset electronic hook switch compatibility

#1

Hello! Is there any support with Jitsi and headsets that can support
remote call control options (ie, answer call, end call, etc)? I cannot
seem to find any documentation that mentions this subject. In my own
testing (with limited amount of headsets), I have not had any success using
remote call control functionality, so I just wanted to confirm against
other's experience.

Thank you

There's unfortunately no support for this. The headsets I've been playing around with (Jabra, Logitech) a while ago were sending proprietary events over the USB HID protocol and I wasn't able to properly decode them. And there is no easy to use library to make these events available in a Java application such as Jitsi.

Jabra has some communication suite, maybe it is able to map the incoming events and forward them as a keyboard shortcut. You could then map that one to a global shortcut in Jitsi's option (I never tried this).

Thank you

Ingo

Hi Christopher,

I have created a simple Java program, that runs in the taskbar and reads propietary USB commands from headsets. I was able to detect input events from Jabra and Logitech devices (but e.g. Jabra Suite needs to be disabled to allow read access on the device).

My goal back then was to create a jitsi plugin, but I had no time (or money) to finish it. The standalone application now can do "anything" on a detected event. "Anything" includes creating a button press that can then be configured in Jitsi. It works well for our customer.

Send me a message if you are interested (I yet don't have a public repository).

Kind regards,

Peter
