[jitsi-users] Jitsi hanging after adding an XMPP account and clicking on a contact

#1

can anyone help me or give me a clue? i'd greatly appreciate it..

well, jitsi was working yesterday, but today, i think i must have changed
some pulseaudio or alsa settings, and now jitsi hangs.

i updated to the latest/nightly build using the ubuntu repo (so now at
2.9.5491-1) but no difference.

jitsi is okay for setting up a sip or yahoo IM account, but when i try to
add an XMPP-based account, it hangs. nothing responds. i have tried 2
different XMPP servers (one of which is Google talk) and same problem.

i don't know what i've changed or done.

also, i don't know if it's related, but on the stderr i do see a bunch of
messages about failing to initialize the system tray. (however, these
occur, even with the successful SIP and Yahoo account set-ups, so i don't
think it is what is hanging Jitsi..

the hanging does not start right away after adding an XMPP-based account.
at first, i can still access the menus. however, right after i try to
click or double-click on one of my contacts to highlight them, or start a
text chat, no window opens up for them for a text chat, and no additional
messages are sent to stderr. but now everything is locked up. i can only
kill it externally (not even with the window manager, must be done with a
SIGHUP, etc..)

i'm on Kubuntu 15.10.

stderr output below (but this is all *before* adding an XMPP-based account.

please let me know if there is any additional information i can provide.

thanks.
