#1

I am reaching out to this board direct, because of the high level of
experience with Jitsi. I would love some help. I am co-founder of
callinize.com a startup based in San Francisco. We are using Jitsi. We
want to customize the user interface. If you have experience in this,
please reach out.

Hi, Patrick!

Jitsi is going to migrate from Spring UI to HTML5 UI by the end of the
summer. Maybe you'll prefer to wait for a while and just hire a
web-developer.
https://jitsi.org/GSOC/Swing2Html5 – It is one most competitive GSoC
projects. You can make sure about this by checking GSoC Applications in
Archives http://lists.jitsi.org/pipermail/gsoc/ (February, March 2014)

I'm not a Jitsi developer or team member, but I'm sure that your help in
improving Jitsi interface will be highly appreciated. If you have a
designer in your team, you can ask him to help to community with designing
UI while community creates possibility to easily customize it. Jitsi
community have no designers as far as I know.

Sure. I would love to help! Our current app looks pretty awesome and my
roommate is a web designer! I would greatly prefer to modify HTML5 than
Spring. My bigger concern is timelines. Summer is 4-5 months. I haven't
seen anything on Github --> https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi related to an
HTML5 application. So my fear is this project timeline might get kicked
forward.

In case of succesfull project it will be ended at August 18 but first
results will be available at the end of June (GSoC mid-term evaluations).
The are no way to move coding deadline in GSoC. The only way – whole
project failure. But no money – no honey, oh.. I mean, no project - no
money, so students are rather motivated:)
You may evaluate your risks personally by viewing student proposals at
Google-Melange. All student applications will be available at
google-melange.com after 21 of March.
