[jitsi-users] Jitsi deployments

#1

I have been testing Jitsi for live online web conferencing for use in a university setting. My university is considering setting up a server to test using Jitsi on our campus. Has Jitsi has been deployed widely in any other universities?

#2

Hi,

Yes, and don't do it. Jitsi looses the password almost daily. It's an IT
nightmare.

It sounds to me that your question was about Jitsi Meet as opposed to the Jitsi client.

I am aware of multiple deployments ranging from thousands to millions of subscribers. The one that is probably closest to what you are looking to build is the Renater deployment in France:

Hope this helps,
Emil

Having different nightly builds running for a year now, i can tell you,
Jitsi did not loose any password yet.
and nightly builds aren't labled stable for a reason

You really should investigate why it's doing it in your environment.

Flávio, what I found here is that my desktop computer never has this problem. It is fixed and shuts down each night.
However, my roving laptops ALWAYS have the problem.

We were forced to move to another xmpp client. I would prefer to use Jitsi because it does SIP also, but it looks like that’s not going to happen.

Hi,

nightmare.

I understand that hitting a corner problem can be very frustrating. It is however in no way a reason to misinform other users especially without even taking the pain to understand their questions.

My advice would be to either fix the issue yourself or simply stop using Jitsi in favour of an application that does what you need.

Flávio, what I found here is that my desktop computer never has this

send the jitsi logs to this list if it happens again.

We were forced to move to another xmpp client. I would prefer to use
Jitsi because it does SIP also, but it looks like that’s not going to
happen.

May sound strange, but Empathy could do SIP as well, if it works.
means, mine does not atm, but did in the past, so it's just a minor bug,
that will be fixed with the OS upgrade in January.

Hi,

Besides, that it suggest to investigate your problem a bit deeper, here
the simple solution :

cd /home/jitsiuser/
tar czf /home/jitsiuser/backups/jitsi_config.tgz .jitsi
echo "0 8 * * * jitsiuser tar xzf
/home/jitsiuser/backups/jitsi_config.tgz -C /home/jitsiuser/" >
/etc/cron.d/jitsirestore
