[jitsi-users] Jitsi deployment question

#1

I want to start out by saying that I truly appreciate Jitsi and all of
the work that has been put into developing it.

I just completed setting up an OpenFire XMPP server for my
organization and am scheduled to be deploying Jitsi as our VoIP client
in the next week or so. In test groups Jitsi has worked really well
for the needs of our organization.

The greatest hurdle that I have encountered in deploying Jitsi is that
the audio settings often require considerable adjusting on each
computer, and
vary by OS and make, before the sound quality is what it should be.
Trying to tweak these settings at a distance for those individuals who
are less than computer savvy can be very tedious.

It seems that Jitsi does not automatically recognize the audio
settings of the computer as easily as other programs, such as Skype.
Is there a reason why this is and is there a way that I can make this
process at all easier?

Thanks as always for your help.

Sincerely,

Joseph Santolan

Glad to hear this!

Could you please be more specific about the kinds of changes that you've had to make? By audio settings, do you mean in/out volumes or audio system or audio devices?

We made relatively substantial changes on windows recently so the situation there should be better in general. OS X should be next.

Cheers,
Emil
