[jitsi-users] Jitsi crashes when chatting with russian chars (on Windows XP x86 RUS)

#1

Hello,

Jitsi-x86 crashes on Windows XP SP3 Professional RUS when trying to type a
single russian char. Everything is OK when typing numbers or english chars.
Also, jitsi works correctly with cyrillic symbols on Windows 7 RUS, Windows
8 and Windows 8.1.

What I've tried:
- versions 2.2-latest, 2.4-latest, 2.5-latest;
- replace bundled JRE with official jre-7u51 from Oracle;
- disable spell-checking
- disable encryption

Crashes how exactly? Provide Jitsi's logs as described at https://jitsi.org/Documentation/FAQ#logs in order to possibly give us the details.

Then it very much sounds like a JRE bug, not a Jitsi-specific issue.

- replace bundled JRE with official jre-7u51 from Oracle;

The latest nightly is bundled with the official jre-7u51 from Oracle so replacing shouldn't really change anything substantial.

Hi Egor,

Try this:

Click START, click CONTROL PANEL, and then double-click REGIONAL AND
LANGUAGE OPTION, on the LANGUAGES tab Click on DETAILS, then on the
ADVANCED tab select the EXTEND SUPPORT OF ADVANCED TEXT SERVICES TO ALL
PROGRAMS check box.

Yes, enabling *Extend support of advanced text services to all
programs check box *solved the problem. Thanks a lot!
