[jitsi-users] jit.si XMPP server down + direct calling q's again

#1

Greetings,

Long story short, we would like to have an alternative to make calls when
jit.si is down. We are using Jitsi for for a semi-mission critical audio
link. Ok. nobodies lives depend on it, but it's a super bummer when its not
working.

I asked about registarless sip before here and I didn't fully understand
the technical reasons that direct calling public IP to public IP address
was so difficult or technically impossible to do (if I have full control
over the firewalls at both ends and can setup port fowarding, etc). See :
http://lists.jitsi.org/pipermail/users/2015-March/008935.html

If this direct calling is really technically impossible, then I suppose my
next question is can somebody point me towards a way to run my on XMPP
server?

Thanks,
Scott McClements

Hi,

the used addresses and ports are used on application level, which you
cannot control using firewall. You can just install an xmpp server on
public address with jinglenodes plugin and that's it. jit.si is just
openfire and jignlenodes.
