[jitsi-users] jit.si XMPP Jabber server down?

#1

Hi,

I hope this ist the right list for my question.

since a couple of days I can't log-in to jit.si with my Jabber client.

Is there a website where I can check whether the Jit.si server is online or
offline?

Thanks,

Hermann

xmpp.jit.si is online, so it should be something on your side

You can use any online tool that connects to specific ports, for example
after a quick search I found this one -- http://www.adminkit.net/telnet.aspx
(use address xmpp.jit.si and port 5222). But I guess there are tons of
similar tools. If you have access to another machine beside your local one,
you can try `telnet xmpp.jit.si 5222` from there.

Hi,

I experienced the same problem with chatsecure but can not reproduce it
with a second phone.

No. This is nonsense. And I'm online right now, as are hundreds of other
users.

Hi all,

I just now discovered that some of the mailing list e-mail went to a Spam folder on my e-mail server so I missed Yasens E-Mail. Sorry for the confusion.

Hi Yasen,

Thanks for your hint.

I found out that one can also check fort he server availability if using a client from another system. I.e. I had problems with my Android client. Then I used a XMPP Desktop client to check the availability of xmpp.jit.si.

I think it could be helpful for other Jitsi users if the information you mentioned (and maybe what I suggested) is put on the xmpp.jit.si website, so that everybody can read it without digging in mailing lists archives.

Regards,

Hermann

Hi Damencho,

well, all of a sudden it stopped working for me and didn't came back online.
Thats why I wrote to this mailing list. But since no one could help me here (also not on IRC) , I was under the impression that the service must have been discontinued.

This is why I asked for a status page of the server (is it online or offline?) where I can verify whether it's only me (and my apps) who has problems.

In any case, thanks for your feedback. I have to troubleshoot my Chatsecure app then.
