[jitsi-users] Jigasi smack version mismatch in Ubuntu 14.x

#1

Hello,

I've been trying to set up jigasi on an ubuntu 14 server. I am using the
jitsi stable repos for jitsi-meet, videobridge, and jicofo, and the
unstable repo for jigasi.

Jigasi sees my incoming call, and immediately throws SEVERE errors. It
appears as though there is an interface mismatch in the
org/jivesoftware/smack library.

"Type 'org/jivesoftware/smack/XMPPConnection' (current frame, stack[1]) is
not assignable to 'org/jivesoftware/smack/AbstractConnection' (stack map,
stack[1])"

Am I correct in assuming this is a smack / xmpp library interface
dependency issue?

Since all my jitsi packages have been installed through the jitsi
repositories I imagine they should automatically detect (and hopefully
correct) any dependency conflicts. Do you have any advice on how to resolve
this?

Hi,

Which version of jigasi were you using?
I've been updating those these days and I was testing packages and
they seem to work fine on my side. I will double check now.

Hum,

I was testing 132 and 133 and seems to work fine on my side. That is strange.
Can you do:
apt-get remove jigasi
make sure you do not have /usr/share/jigasi folder
apt-get update
apt-get install jigasi.

This will not clean any configuration and will just update jigasi.
Tell me how it goes, do you hit the same problem again?

Regards
damencho

#5

After I manually removed the /usr/share/jigasi folder this particular error
no longer appears.

Thank you very much!

Hum,

I was testing 132 and 133 and seems to work fine on my side. That is
strange.
Can you do:
apt-get remove jigasi
make sure you do not have /usr/share/jigasi folder
apt-get update
apt-get install jigasi.

This will not clean any configuration and will just update jigasi.
Tell me how it goes, do you hit the same problem again?
