[jitsi-users] Jicofo Host vs Prosody VirtualHost vs Component domain

#1

Hi Guys,

I am trying to setup jitsi-meet by splitting focus, videobridge and xmpp
servers.

so currently I have three servers and three domains:

focus.some-domain
xmpp.some-domain (apache is also on xmpp server for now)
videobridge.some-domain

Now I am connecting them together having a conceptual issue.

*Question:*

JICOFO Config

*Why does jicofo/config says to put xmpp host name as JICOFO_HOST ? *should
I not be putting jicofo domain ?

# Jitsi Conference Focus settings
# sets the host name of the XMPP server
JICOFO_HOST=

# sets the XMPP domain (default: none)
JICOFO_HOSTNAME=

# sets the XMPP domain name to use for XMPP user logins
JICOFO_AUTH_DOMAIN=auth.? - What should

*Prosody Config*

Component vs virtualHost - should the component contain actual domain of
focus and videobridge ?

e.g.

admins = { "focus@[*DOMAIN of XMPP or Focus*]" }

VirtualHost "auth.[*DOMAIN of XMPP or Focus*]"
    authentication = "internal_plain"

Component "[*DOMAIN of XMPP or Focus*]"
    component_secret = "blabla"

Thanks in advance.

The naming is unfortunate. Follow the comments.

# sets the XMPP domain name to use for XMPP user logins
JICOFO_AUTH_DOMAIN=auth.? - What should

No, the "actual" domains don't matter. These are internal to prosody and you only need to match the configuration between prosody and jicofo/jvb. I don't think that you need to change anything here, the same config from the 1-machine case should work.
